June 2005 Update

So far June has been very busy! For seven nights in a row we had a family party, a soccer party, or a preschool graduation party to attend! We got really spoiled because on the morning of day 8, Kyle asked "what party are we going to tonight?" Well, I dont blame him for that! We did have a fun run of parties though! Here are some pictures of the boys during those first eight days. The boys also received some cards from their Aunt Terry, who was recently in town to visit them, and they were so excited to get those letters! You would have thought it was a check for a million dollars, or on their level, it could have been compared to a bag full of candy!!! They loved getting those letters from their aunt. Then, Paige, their youngest cousin, had her first birthday on the 6th and the balloons were part of her party... (unfortunately, the balloons turned into light sabers- imagine where they got that idea from-... but nobody got hurt! Thank goodness!) Enjoy!!!

Kyle's Soccer Party

On Tuesday, June 7th, we attended our first End-of-the-Season Soccer Banquet. Kyle finished his first season of playing soccer and we had a pizza party at Lampost. It was so much fun! This team was amazing! We saw every other team in the league (this age) have trouble, but ours never did! We had the best coach ever! He was so patient with the boys and really believed he could teach them to play soccer. And they did learn! They learned the lingo and how to play positions, and how to do the proper footwork to really move the ball! We had a very united a dedicated set of parents and the boys were great with each other as well. Some of the kids could really play and learned really quickly. Others, like our Kyle, was there just to "have fun" (which was the first rule of our team, according to our coach). Kevin put together an eleven-minute video of the kids and their highlights and it turned out awesome! We feel so blessed that this was Kyle's first experience and exposure to playing on a sports team. He loved it and gained quite a bit of self-confidence in the process! Here are some photos of Kyle playing soccer, the party and Kyle in his uniform. Enjoy!

Martinez Family Gift

We have the most amazing neighbors! Johnny and rose Martinez live next door to my parent's home in Placentia. They are the most generous and loving people you will ever meet. They were unable to attend Tyler's baby blessing, but they sent over a gift that day. Johnny gave Kevin a personalized card that shared some special council with him, as a father and provider. Then, Kevin opened up this beautiful clock with the poem "Footsteps" printed and laminated on the background of the clock. Johnny expressed that after all that we had gone through in the hospital after Tyler's birth, we should now b able to look back and see where it was the Lord carrying us through that trial and ordeal. We had hard the poem before many times, but it hadn't occurred to us to think of our experience with that idea in mind. It made a very spiritual and powerful impression. I tell you, there are no better Christians than the Martinez Family! We thank them for such a beautiful and generous gift for our family!

Tyler's Baby Blessing

On Sunday, June 5th, 2005 Tyler Davell Petersen was blessed by his father, Kevin. It was a beautiful blessing and we were so grateful that so many family members were able to join us and particiapte in that special ordinance. Tyler was awake for the whole blessing but he never made a peep. That is so like him- so good and patient with us all! Kevin blessed Tyler with good health and patience; with a good sense of humor and with love for his family and friends. He also blessed him as a future missionary, husband and father. It made Tyler's mommy cry! After Sacrament Mtg., everyone headed over to Grandma Thompson's for lunch... everyone, that is, except for Mommy, Kyle, Ryan, and Tyler! Oops! But we soon joined the party and had a great time visiting with all of the relatives! Kyle and Ryan kept asking for the whole next week if they could "play with their new cousins". Thank you to all of our family for joining us for such a very special day! It meant so much to us to be able to share this baby blessing, our last baby blessing, with all of the family whom we love so much! Thank you so much!
